Qualitative and Mixed Methods Study Support

Qualitative and mixed methods research offers the opportunity to learn more about how personal beliefs, values, and perceptions can influence health, disease, and the uptake of new evidence. It offers methods for understanding how context and systems can influence intervention effectiveness. These methods are increasingly being recognized as valuable tools for translating evidence into practice. Therefore, the Liver Center is pleased to announce a new consultation service to help LC investigators incorporate these methods into their scholarly activities.

Qualitative and Mixed Methods support team

The Patient-Facing Research Core offers qualitative and mixed methods study design consultations. The group is headed by Dr. Sharad I Wadhwani. Dr. Wadhwani will review all new requests for consultation and schedule a time to meet with the investigator team.

We do not currently have the bandwidth to support study execution. Rather, we can provide consultation services on the following:

  1. Study design
  2. Methods – identifying appropriate framework, developing interview guides & codebooks, qualitative coding, and thematic analysis
  3. Study team staffing
  4. Grant preparation
  5. Liaising with the broader UCSF qualitative and mixed-methods community for more in-depth support (e.g., CRC training)
