Patient-Facing Research Core
The Patient-Facing Research Core supports many facets of human subjects research. First, the core serves as a gateway for researchers to connect with Liver Center members who have their own investigator-initiated cohorts and biospecimen collections, suitable for collaboration. The core also enables investigators to use a variety of national registries and databases to address liver-related questions. Second, the core houses its own biorespository of de-identified tissue from liver explants representing a variety of chronic liver diseases. Third, the core can facilitate procurement of biospecimens for investigator-driven research collections, and guide clients through the process for obtaining archived sittue from the UCSF Pathology Department. Finally, the core provides expert statistical consultation and support, to help investigators through all stages of research from study design and power calculation to data analysis and reporting.
