Quantstudio 6 Flex Real-Time PCR

The Liver Gene Analysis Core is equpped with an in-house Quantstudio 6 Flex Real-Time PCR System on the Parnassus campus (S-357).  This instrument accommodates both 96-well and 384-well plates and detects 5 colors for use with SYBR and Taqman assays. The 384-well format uses smaller amounts of reagents and cDNA than the 96-well format, which increases output per sample and saves money on reagents. This feature is very important for those who need to analyze the small amount of RNA derived from liver biopsy tissue.  Users are charged an hourly rate as indicated here.

Users must receive training and certification on this instrument before scheduling work. To learn more about the instrument or to schedule work, please contact the core via the link below.

Agilent Bioanalyzer

The Liver Gene Analysis Core owns and operates an Agilent 2100 Bioanalyzer that assesses the quantity and quality of experimental samples. The instrument is useful for quality control in many workflows, including next-generation sequencing, gene expression, proteomics and CRISPR applications. Users can evaluate the integrity, concentration, and purity of RNA, DNA, and protein derived from a variety of starting materials. Users must purchase their own kits and reagents.
