Liver Center microscopes for microphotography and morphometry

The Liver Tissue Analysis Core operates two microscopes suitable for light and fluorescent imaging: a Nikon Microphot-FXA microscope with a CCD camera and morphometry software, and a Leica DM6B microscope with a 4.2MP cMOS camera and imaging station. Both instruments are located at on the Parnassus campus (HSE 1401).  Objectives range from 4X to 60X, and fluorescence filters enable visualization of DAPI, Hoechst, FITC, rhodamine and Texas red dyes.

Prospective users of the microscope must first be trained and certified on the equipment and software.  Investigators with limited needs, such as photodocumentation of individual slides for presentations, can contact the core for assistance.  To learn more about using the microscope or obtaining assistance with microphotography, please contact Kevin Siao.
