Flow cytometry
The core is equipped with a BD Biosciences LSR II flow cytometer, configured with 3 fixed alignment lasers (488 nm, 405 nm, and 633 nm) that enable analysis of 10 colors. The LSR II can be used to analyze cells or cytometric beads that measure cytokines, immunoglobulins and signaling molecules. Core personnel are skilled in the analysis of hepatocytes, sinusoidal endothelial cells liver lymphocytes and other populations.
The Core offers consultation regarding experimental design. Core personnel also provide training and assistance with operation of the LSR II. Experienced users who are certified by Core staff are permitted independent use of the instrument. The LSR II operates M-F from 0900-1700. Users must supply their own antibodies or cytometric beads.
Hepatitis virus quantitation
New assays are under development by the Core for quantitative measurement of HBV DNA and HCV RNA in biological samples. Once validated, these assays will be available to clinical investigators for research purposes. Information regarding the performance characteristics of the assay will be posted soon. Prospective users should expect a recharge for this assay at a discount compared to the amount charged by commercial vendors.
