The Cell Biology Core prepares primary liver cells from rats and mice for a variety of experimental applications. Core personnel have in-depth knowledge of parenchymal and non-parenchymal cell isolation procedures, cell purification techniques and cell culture protocols and environments. New clients are encouraged to consult the Core Director regarding their experimental needs before requesting cell isolation or culture services.

Core personnel are also trained in procedures that induce liver disease in rats and mice. Clients can request instruction in these procedures.

Note: The Core prepares liver cells from wild-type rats and mice under the auspices of its own IACUC protocol. Core personnel can also isolate cells from genetically engineered animals or animals with prior treatments, but only if the cell isolation procedure and personnel are added to the IACUC protocol of the requesting investigator. Please consult with the Core Director if you need cells from special animal strains.

Recharges are applied to all services provided by the Cell Biology Core. A list of Core services and prices can be found here.
